Welcome
to Ascension's web site. We are a community of faith centered in Christ
Jesus and called to discipleship. We are a people of diverse economic,
social and cultural backgrounds. We are the old and the young and everyone
in between, each with specific gifts and needs. Our diversity is a
treasure we cherish. Unity is a spirit for which we strive.

While it is not the only activity of our church, "The liturgy is the
summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed; at the same
time it is the font from which all the Church's power flows."
- Constitution on the Sacred
Liturgy
In the Eucharistic liturgy we discover our
identity as a people empowered by the Holy Spirit to be the body of Christ
in the world. We believe in the need to be a reconciling community -
welcoming all, bridging our differences and forgiving imperfection.
Believing that the experience of Church is found primarily in our bonding
with one another, we are dedicated to the sharing of our life and faith in
the light of God's Word.

Ascension is led by our pastor and group of
lay people and a deacon, together called the
. Two important groups
with whom we consult are Parish Pastoral Council and the Finance Council.
The
Pastoral Council is made up of
three of the full-time members of the Core Team and parishioners from a
variety of aspects of parish life who have discerned their place in this
ministry. The
is
made up of eight to twelve people, selected by the Pastor, to monitor the
parish financial situation, oversee the budgeting, and suggest financial
strategies for the parish. |

Formed by the Gospel, we seek to be a voice
for justice, a hand outstretched in compassion. We seek to be a people
founded on Christ's mandate to serve, in our own gathering, in our
neighborhood and beyond. Faithfully, we seek to pass our faith on to our
children and to all who will receive it. Deeply rooted in Catholic
Tradition and reliant upon God's Spirit, we seek to move with the church
as it grows into the twenty-first century , giving flesh to the gospel in
our worship and in our lives.
Ascension’s ministries are organized into six categories:

"The purpose of the sacraments is to
make people holy, to build up the Body of Christ, and finally to give
worship to God."
- Constitution
on the Sacred Liturgy
The Catholic Church's ritual is rooted in these seven
sacraments; the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and
Eucharist; the sacraments of healing: Reconciliation (confession) and
Anointing of the Sick; the sacraments of commitment: Matrimony and Holy
Orders.
